Sony came under fire for taking as long as a week to communicate the attack on its Playstation Network. During this time, Sony was carrying out Digital Forensic Investigations, in an attempt to locate and isolate the hack.
This is when they found that hackers gained the personal details of 77 million users. The Guardian reported: "usernames, passwords, credit card details, security answers, purchase history and addresses are believed to have been stolen."
