ITIL, or Information Technology Infrastructure Library, is a set of best practices for IT Service Management that focus on synchronising IT services with the needs of business.
ITIL labels methods, tasks and checklists that are not organisation specific and are used by organisations to establish a minimum level of competency. It creates a standard for business with which it can plan, implement, and measure. It is used to measure the level of improvement, and to understand how accommodating a business is to the best practices.
