CompTIA updated its Network+ certification exam on 1 December 2011. The new exam code is N10-005, which replaces N10-004. CompTIA changes its certifications every three years. The course covers networking knowledge on networking devices, cables, protocols and networked software.

The certification has two broad objectives: Knowledge of Networking Technology and Knowledge of Networking Practices.

The exam is of 85 questions and a maximum time of 90 minutes. Although no pre-requisites, CompTIA recommends having A+ certification plus nine months of computer network related experience.
