Study: Critical industries undermining IT risks

A study by Carnegie Mellon, cyber security researches has revealed that top business executives are unaware of the cyber risks which can affect their organisations. The report “How Boards & Senior Executives are Managing Cyber Risks” states that although the situation has improved in the last four years (when the first study was undertaken), the importance of tackling IT risks is still being undermined in overall enterprise risk management.

The study finds that the financial sector has better privacy and security practices, compared to other sectors.

The study surveyed 108 executives and board members from Forbes Global 2000 companies. Three quarters of this year’s surveyed are from critical infrastructure companies.
